(More customer reviews)I've never owned a Dremel but since their popularity has increased, I decided to get a basic 2 speed model. What have I used it for so far? I was able to use the metal cutting blade to cut down wire shelving to install in a closet at the top speed, and to cut a plastic connector that wasn't quite the right shape with the lower speed. I've used a grinding disk to file down a metal threshold that was too wide for a doorway and it did a fine job.
I have to install some new vanity light boxes, and hope to use the drywall attachment and cutting tool to cut the circles. I hadn't really checked out the attachements when I bought the item so am grateful for it's inclusion, otherwise I don't know how I would cut the circles. Update - need lots of practice here, my circles were not quite circles, but the drywall tool cut 5/8" drywall very easily!
It certainly is easier to use a Dremel than suffer from the repetative motion of using a hacksaw or a rasp on metal.
Can't wait to find other uses.
A tip - make sure to practice cutting or grinding to get used to how the Dremel handles.
