(More customer reviews)This excellent flashlight is great for tactical, hunting, survival/ camping applications. I do not know what kind of flashlight the other reviewer is used to, but this little guy really cranks out the lumens! It is absolutely blinding and I can see 100 feet easily at night outside. I use it to check on our horses at night and it really illuminates! When I bought this light a year ago I bought it to mount on a rifle. Because the diameter is 15/16", it mounts easily to 1" clamps. Comparing to other tactical 1" lights it is a real bargain. It has some weight to it and is rugged. Trust me, this little guy is quality. I bought 4 rechargeable batteries with charger for it on ebay for $12 incl. shipping! So for under $50 I now have a light that works on and off of the weapons and is rechargeable. Sweet!

Snap-on 92311 2AAA LED Pen Light Review

(More customer reviews)Snap-On makes high quality tools. I have been in and out of the auto trade for 40 years and I own numerous Snap-On tools. They are all of the finest quality, very comfortable to use and extremely durable, with a lifetime guarantee.
Based on that experience, I expected more from this light. I own about 20 different small LED lights, using AAA, AA and CR123 batteries. Flashlight collecting has been my hobby for about a year now, so I feel qualified to render an opinion on this Snap-On light. Don't get me wrong, it's an OK light. But it is too large for the amount of lumens that it produces. A better choice for a small shirt-pocket-carry AAA*2 light would be the Streamlight Stylus Pro, which is MUCH smaller than the Snap-On and produces about the same amount of light from two AAA batteries, at slightly less cost for the light. If you really want to step up the brightness, then the brightest AAA light I have ever seen is the 'Preon' by '4Sevens'. I have a 'Preon 2' (uses two AAA batteries) and it is almost unbelievable!
Snap-On makes great tools, but this flashlight is just so-so.

(More customer reviews)i bought this penlight as a backup to an identical unit that i bought from radioshack 2 years ago. its a bit pricey but very sturdy and very bright. the radioshack unit has been an excellent performer (5 stars). the one from amazon however had 2 minor flaws (and thus the 4 star review). the on switch was a bit stiff and difficult to turn on with one hand, which is necessary in my line of work. also, the cone of light had a dark spot in the middle, which won't work for my needs. the one from radioshack had neither of these problems. i have sent the amazon unit back for a replacement and will update this review when i get it back.

I keep one in my briefcase in a pen slot and know that I have by my side one of the best flashlights in the consumer market. It's also great for playing doctor at home for close up examinations. Just don't point it in someone's eye. I have both the regular version and the one with the flexible head. I use the flexible head model when working in the engine compartment.

(More customer reviews)I bought this penlight and had to buy another brand since this one basically fails on most levels. First of all, it's really long, about two inches longer than a regular pen, so it doesn't really fit well in a coat pocket. Second, the pen doesn't work like a normal penlight, e,g, click the button it's on, click the button it's off. Instead the button has to be held in to keep the light on, or you can twist the end to keep it on. Not a very convenient set-up since it takes two hands to turn the light on and keep it on. And finally, as a diagnostic tool, the light is way too bright for most patient's eyes.
On the upside, the light is really bright. That may come in useful someday. For now, I have a very nice $3.00 penlight I got elsewhere.

Streamlight 66318 MicroStream LED Pen Flashlight Review

(More customer reviews)I own many flashlights, and this is by far my favorite using a 1xAAA format. The brightness is exceptional for the size and weight. I believe the 20-lumen rating is accurate, by comparison with many other lights I own. I also own the larger 2xAAA version of this light (Streamlight Stylus Pro), and the microstream is almost identically bright. Of course, the 2xAAA version has longer battery life, by more than a factor of 2 because of circuit efficiency and battery-capacity variance with discharge rate.
The switch type is my favored "forward" clicky, which means you can push it slightly to get a momentary-on function. Some other lights use a "reverse" clicky, which doesn't turn on until you click and release.
The one thing I dislike about both of these lights is that the pocket clip rotates with the threaded end cap, badly scratching the finish when you remove the cap to replace the battery. You can avoid this by placing a piece of cloth between the clip and flashlight body before turning the cap, but you have to think of this before first disassembly or it's too late.
Also, the clip exerts enough sideways pressure on the light body that you must be very careful to avoid cross-threading when you reinstall the cap onto the body.

Streamlight 65418 18-Inch Stylus Reach Flashlight, Black Review

(More customer reviews)This is an extremely handy light that I have found useful in numerous applications. It works very well as a borelight for guns, it can be bent so that it sits on a flat surface keeping light focused on a small area (excellent for model work), and hung over a pipe when working amongst ductwork. By twisting the tailcap, you can make the light stay on continuously (though this is nowhere to be found in the packaging) or use it intermittently by pressing the button on the tailcap. The light is quite bright for so small a bulb and the long gooseneck holds it shape very well. My only quibbles are with the tailcap not locking in to keep the light on since twisting the cap is difficult at times (especially with wet hands), and the use of AAAA batteries. And that's no typo- you have to use AAAA batteries which are difficult to find and expensive so if you plan to use this light often, I suggest buying a replacement set of batteries when you order the light. That does make it a little pricey but you'll be glad you did when you realize the folks at your local supercenter want to have you committed if you ask for AAAA batteries. Overall though, this is a handy (not quite so) little light to have on hand when that clunky kitchen drawer model is too awkward.

Great for checking your patient's pupils. Use it length-wise on your patient's nailbeds to check for response to light pain.
Additionally if you work long nights like I do, this is a great tool to check on your patients without turning on the lights unnecessarily. I use this to check foley and chest tube output in the dark.
Are you in the ER? Have a psych patient sleeping that you need to check on? Shine this high intensity low spread light on your patient's chest all the way from the door to observe the rise and fall of their chest without waking them up.
This would make a great gift to a new RN grad. Looks professional. Not bulky like some other penlights I've seen. Clip ensures it won't fall out of your scrub pocket.

Incredibly handy and not heavy when you find it stuck in your mouth for 20 minutes looking for something that fell into one of those crevices under your car seat that is, for all intents and purposes, a black hole. You'll have a hard time finding AAAA batteries at most stores (not that you'll need them often as it runs A LONG TIME per set), but here's a trick. Peal open a good quality (copper top) 9 volt battery and inside you'll find 6 AAAA batteries that will fit!!! I will be getting one of these for each car since I've discovered this nifty trick!! For this price at amazon, it's a must have and great gift that anybody is likely to appreciate.

Recent advancements in LED quality and brightness levels surpasses past iterations and as of May 2008 this seems to be the best light in this size and form factor. The Stylus Pro is an improvement over the thinner but not-as-bright regular Stylus, also a great little light (and reviewed also in the video). The SP not only has a brighter "high flux" LED but its push button switch makes it one hand operable, a big advantage pretty much in all situations. For these features it is only slightly thicker than the regular Stylus but still very lightweight (only a svelte 1.8 oz). The output is also electronically controlled meaning its brightness will be more consistent and even through the life of the batteries. Other features including materials, battery types, and their clips are covered in the video. Both the Stylus and the Stylus Pro are super quality lights that feature lightweight, small size, and good durability. In the world of small lights the Stylus Pro is currently reigning supreme.
